Mikhail Savitsky
Mikhail Andreevich Savitsky (1922–2010) was a Belarusian and Soviet painter and educator. Honored as People's Artist of the USSR in 1978, he received the USSR State Prize in 1973, and was named Hero of Belarus in 2006.
Biography
Mikhail Andreevich Savitsky was born on February 18, 1922, in the village of Zvenyachi. He was a Belarusian and Soviet painter and educator who made a significant contribution to the art of his country. In 1978, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In 1973, Savitsky received the USSR State Prize for outstanding achievements in the field of art. He was also a laureate of the State Prizes of the Belarusian SSR and the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in 1996. Mikhail Savitsky passed away on November 8, 2010, in Minsk.
