Mikhail Larionov
Mikhail Fyodorovich Larionov (1881–1964) was a Russian painter and graphic artist, a key figure of the Russian avant-garde, scenographer, and art theorist. Born in Tiraspol, he was a longtime partner of Natalia Goncharova. Larionov worked in portraiture and contributed to Neo-Impressionism and Rayonism. His life and work were connected with the Russian Empire, France, and Russia.
Biography
Mikhail Fyodorovich Larionov was born on June 3, 1881, in Tiraspol. He was a Russian painter and graphic artist recognized as an important representative of the Russian avant-garde, as well as a scenographer and art theorist. Larionov maintained a long-term partnership with Natalia Goncharova. His creative work included portraiture, reflecting his influence in the art world. He was one of the founders of Rayonism and is also known as a representative of Neo-Impressionism. Throughout his career, Larionov held various roles: artist, draftsman, designer, scenographer, costume designer, illustrator, engraver, art theorist, theatrical decorator, graphic artist, fashion designer, watercolor artist, and theatrical designer. His cultural and national affiliations spanned the Russian Empire, France, and Russia, where he lived and worked. Mikhail Fyodorovich Larionov passed away on May 10, 1964, in Fontainebleau, France.
