Michelangelo Antonioni was born on September 29, 1912, in Ferrara, Italy. His creative work spanned multiple roles, including film director, screenwriter, producer, editor, artist, poet, and writer. Antonioni is regarded as a classic figure in European auteur cinema and is known as a "poet of alienation and incommunicability." At the heart of his artistic explorations are the problems of modern society, viewed through the lens of existential philosophy — spiritual numbness, emotional fatigue, and human loneliness. Among his notable films are "L'Avventura," "L'Eclisse," and "Blow-Up." Michelangelo Antonioni died on July 30, 2007, in Rome. He was a citizen of Italy and the Kingdom of Italy.
