Biography

Mercedes Clementina Marta del Carmen Pardo Ponte, widely known as Mercedes Pardo, was born on July 29, 1921, in Caracas, Venezuela. She was a painter whose main artistic direction was abstraction. Mercedes Pardo is considered an important figure in Venezuelan fine arts of the first half of the 20th century. Throughout her life, she created numerous works reflecting the aesthetic and artistic tendencies of abstract art. The writer and artist continued her creative work until her death on March 24, 2005, in San Antonio de Los Altos, Venezuela. Mercedes Pardo's legacy continues to influence contemporary abstract art and Venezuelan culture.
