Master Theodoric, also known as Theoderic of Prague, was a Czech artist actively working in Prague in the mid-14th century. His creative activity spanned the 1340s to the 1370s when he was employed at the court of Emperor Charles IV. Master Theodoric is regarded as the first Bohemian artist whose name has survived and is associated with specific works of art. Born in Italy, he died in Prague. His artistic contribution became an essential part of the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic. Among the master’s renowned works is a piece titled "Saint Jerome." Master Theodoric’s activity reflects the artistic traditions and influences of his time, particularly the cultural atmosphere at the court of Charles IV in Prague.
