Marwan Kassab-Bachi
Marwan Kassab-Bachi (1934–2016) was a Syrian painter and graphic artist born in Damascus. He studied at Damascus University before moving to Berlin to attend Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar. He lived most of his life in Germany and became a full professor in 1980.
Biography
Marwan Kassab-Bachi was born on January 31, 1934, in Damascus. He was a Syrian painter and graphic artist. He received his initial art education at Damascus University. Subsequently, he moved to Germany, settling in Berlin, where he continued his studies at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar. Kassab-Bachi spent the majority of his life in Germany, dedicating himself to both artistic creation and teaching. In 1980, he was appointed a full professor. Throughout his career, he worked in the fields of painting and graphics while simultaneously engaging in academic activities. His work and life bridged the cultural traditions of Syria and Germany. Marwan Kassab-Bachi passed away on October 23, 2016, in Berlin.
