Marlenka Stupica
Marlenka Stupica (1927–2022) was a Slovenian artist and illustrator celebrated for illustrating over a hundred children's books. Her work significantly contributed to the visual arts in the regions of the former Yugoslavia.
Biography
Marlenka Stupica was born on December 17, 1927, in Maribor. She was a Slovenian artist and illustrator whose life and career were connected with the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Over the course of her career, Marlenka Stupica illustrated more than one hundred children’s books. Her contributions to children’s book illustration were recognized as significant within the Slovenian and Yugoslav cultural spheres. She remained creatively active until her death on June 17, 2022.
