Biography
Marko Rupnik was born on November 28, 1954, in the town of Zadlog, located in Slovenia, which was then part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He is a Catholic priest, theologian, writer, artist, and art specialist focusing on mosaic art. Rupnik received his theological education studying under the renowned theologian Tomas Spidlik. He served as the director of Centro Aletti in Rome. Rupnik's works embellish numerous well-known churches and shrines around the world, including the National Shrine of Saint John Paul II in Washington, the Redemptoris Mater Chapel in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Sanctuary of Fátima, the Sanctuary of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, and the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid.
