Margrethe II, full name Margrethe Alexandrine Thorhildur Ingrid, was born on April 16, 1940, in Amalienborg, Kingdom of Denmark. From January 14, 1972, she occupied the throne of Denmark and remained queen until January 14, 2024. Her reign lasted 52 years, which is the second longest in the entire history of the Danish monarchy after Christian IV. In addition to her duties as monarch, Margrethe II also distinguished herself in the arts as a painter, textile artist, and screenwriter.
