Marcel Janco

Marcel Janco (1895–1984) was an Israeli and Romanian artist, architect, and writer. A pioneer of Dadaism and an Expressionist, he founded the artist and sculptor village of Ein Hod near Haifa.

Biography

Marcel Janco was born on May 24, 1895, in Bucharest. He was an Israeli and Romanian artist, architect, and writer with diverse creative professions including poet, engraver, designer, sculptor, illustrator, musician, and art figure. Janco was one of the founders of Dadaism and worked in the Expressionist style. He established the village of artists and sculptors in Ein Hod near Haifa, which became a cultural center for creative individuals. Marcel Janco passed away on April 21, 1984, in Ein Hod.
