Marcel Breuer
Marcel Breuer (1902–1981) was a German-American architect and designer known for his work in Brutalism. Born in Pécs, Hungary, he also taught at the university level and engaged in furniture design, photography, and drawing.
Biography
Marcel Lajos Breuer was born on May 21, 1902, in Pécs, Hungary. He was a German and American architect and designer who had a significant impact on 20th-century architecture. Breuer is recognized as a representative of the Brutalist style and also practiced furniture design, photography, drawing, and other artistic endeavors. Throughout his career, he created important architectural projects, including the Kantoorgebouw Van Leer, the Breuer Building, and Saint John's Abbey. In addition to his creative work, Marcel Breuer was also a university lecturer. His national and cultural identity is connected to the United States and Hungary. Marcel Breuer passed away on July 1, 1981, in New York.
