Biography

Lyubov Sergeevna Popova was born on April 24, 1889, in Krasnovidovo. She was a significant figure in the Russian avant-garde, working as a painter, graphic artist, and theater designer in Moscow. Throughout her life, Popova developed her work in the directions of constructivism, futurism, cubism, and suprematism. Her creative legacy includes various genres such as nudes, urban landscapes, still lifes, figures, as well as geometric and abstract painting. In addition to her artistic activities, Popova was involved in design and taught at a university. Her professions included artist, graphic artist, illustrator, draftsman, set designer, collage artist, typographer, architectural draughtswoman, and fashion designer. She represented the cultural traditions of the Russian Empire, Russia, and the USSR. Her collaboration with various artistic directions and professions reflects the multifaceted nature of her creativity. Popova died on May 25, 1924, in Moscow, leaving a significant contribution to the development of the Russian avant-garde and modern art.
