Lygia Clark

Biography

Lygia Clark was born on October 23, 1920, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She was a renowned Brazilian artist, sculptor, performance artist, and installation artist. Clark participated in the Antropophagia movement, which influenced the diversity and depth of her works. In addition to her artistic practice, she was also a university teacher, contributing to the education and development of visual arts in her country. Over her lifetime, Lygia created many significant works combining painting and installations, gaining wide recognition within both the Brazilian and international art communities. She passed away on April 25, 1988, in Rio de Janeiro, leaving an impressive legacy in the field of contemporary art.
