Luis Felipe Noé

Luis Felipe Noé (1933–2025) was an Argentine artist, writer, and teacher born and deceased in Buenos Aires. In 1961, he co-founded the group Otra Figuración, pivotal to the development of Neofiguration in Argentina. After the group disbanded, he moved to New York and continued expanding the boundaries of canvas through assemblages.

Biography

Luis Felipe Noé was born on May 26, 1933, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was an artist, writer, teacher, and cultural figure who made a significant contribution to Neofigurative art. In 1961, along with three other Argentine artists, Noé formed the group Otra Figuración. Their eponymous exhibition and subsequent activities had a considerable influence on the development of the Neofigurative movement in Argentina. After the group disbanded, Luis Felipe moved to New York, where he continued his artistic work by creating and exhibiting assemblages that expanded the traditional boundaries of the canvas. Throughout his life, he worked in the genres of abstractionism and figurative painting. Luis Felipe Noé died on April 9, 2025, in his hometown of Buenos Aires.
