Leonora Carrington (1917–2011) was an English and Mexican artist, sculptor, and writer known for her work in human figure and mythological painting within the surrealist movement.
Biography
Leonora Carrington was born on April 6, 1917, in Clayton-le-Woods. She was an English and Mexican artist, sculptor, and writer who authored books in English, French, and Spanish. Throughout her creative career, she worked as a painter, draftsman, sculptor, screenwriter, and art figure. Carrington specialized in human figure painting and mythological themes, becoming one of the prominent representatives of surrealism. Over her lifetime, she had a significant impact on the development of contemporary art. Leonora Carrington passed away on May 25, 2011, in Mexico City.
