Leonor Fini

Biography

Leonor Fini was born on August 30, 1907, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She spent much of her creative life in France, where she resided and worked. Fini was a multifaceted artist, encompassing roles such as painter, designer, illustrator, author, printmaker, and draftsman. Additionally, she worked as a set designer, costume designer, theatrical decorator, jewelry designer, graphic artist, watercolorist, and pastelist. Her artistic style is aligned with the Surrealist movement. Fini explored various genres including figurativism, portraiture, still life, animal art, and figurine. She is particularly recognized for her depictions of influential and erotic women, which became a distinctive characteristic of her work. Leonor Fini passed away on January 18, 1996, in Paris, France.
