Biography

Lee Bul is a contemporary sculptor and installation artist born in 1964 in Yeongju, Republic of Korea. She debuted on the art scene in the late 1980s and has since become one of the key figures in contemporary art in South Korea. Lee Bul combines the roles of sculptor, installation artist, performer, and visual arts practitioner. Her works often address themes related to the critique of patriarchal power and the marginalization of women, which are reflected in cold sculptures and installations depicting ideals of a futuristic society.
