László Moholy-Nagy

Biography

László Moholy-Nagy was born on July 20, 1895, in the city of Bacbórsod. He was a Hungarian and American artist, a significant figure in the global avant-garde. Moholy-Nagy was a theorist of photography and cinema, a journalist, and one of the most important representatives of the New Vision photography. His work is associated with Constructivism and Abstractionism. Throughout his career, he combined many professions, including artist, photographer, sculptor, designer, architect, graphic designer, teacher, director, film director, cinematographer, theater designer, theatrical set artist, collagist, director of photography, and interior designer. László Moholy-Nagy died on November 24, 1946, in Chicago. His national and cultural identity includes Hungary and the United States.
