Květa Pacovská
Květa Pacovská (1928–2023) was a Czech artist, sculptor, and children’s book illustrator. She worked in graphic arts and typography and was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Prize in 1992 for her contribution to children's book illustration.
Biography
Květa Pacovská was born on July 28, 1928, in Prague. She was a prominent Czech artist, sculptor, and illustrator of children’s literature. Pacovská was also a writer and an active figure in the arts. Her professional work encompassed roles as a graphic artist, draughtswoman, and typographer. She maintained connections with the national and cultural traditions of Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic. In recognition of her contributions to the illustration of children’s literature, she received the Hans Christian Andersen Prize in 1992. Květa Pacovská lived and worked in Prague, where she passed away on February 6, 2023.
