Konstantin Korovin
Konstantin Alekseevich Korovin (1861–1939) was a Russian painter and a leading figure of Russian Impressionism. Born in Moscow and died in Paris, he was an academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts, a principal decorator and artist of Moscow theaters, as well as a theater designer and scenographer.
Biography
Konstantin Alekseevich Korovin was born on December 5, 1861, in Moscow. He was a Russian painter and one of the leaders of the so-called Russian Impressionists. Korovin was also known as a teacher and writer and was the younger brother of the artist Sergey Korovin. During his career, he was an academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Korovin worked as the chief decorator and artist of Moscow theaters, as well as a theatrical designer and scenographer. The artist specialized in the genres of landscape and still life. Throughout his life, he was connected with the cultures of the Russian Empire and France. Among his notable works are "Italian Boulevard" and "Port in Marseille." Konstantin Korovin died on September 11, 1939, in Paris.
