Konstantin Dmitrievich Flavitsky was born on September 13, 1830, in Moscow. He was a Russian artist recognized as a master of historical painting and church decoration. Flavitsky studied under Fyodor Bruni and was a consistent follower of the traditions established by Karl Bryullov. During the early post-reform decade in Saint Petersburg painting, he held a prominent position as a painter, portrait artist, and graphic illustrator. Among his most notable works is the painting titled "The Death of Princess Tarakanova." For his contributions to art, he was honored with the titles of honorary free member and professor of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Konstantin Dmitrievich Flavitsky passed away on September 3, 1866, in Saint Petersburg. His creative activities took place within the Russian Empire during the 19th century.
