Konrad Zuse
Konrad Zuse (1910–1995) was a German engineer and inventor, recognized as a pioneer of computer engineering. He built the first functional programmable electromechanical computer, the Z3, in 1941 and developed the first high-level programming language, Plankalkül, in 1948.
Biography
Konrad Ernst Otto Zuse was born on June 22, 1910, in Wilmersdorf, Germany. He became a prominent German engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, and specialist in computer science. Zuse is considered one of the pioneers of computer construction. In 1941, he created the first truly functional electromechanical programmable computer, the Z3, marking an important milestone in the development of computing technology. Furthermore, in 1948, Konrad Zuse developed the first high-level programming language — Plankalkül — which had a significant influence on the further development of programming. Among his notable works are the computing machines Z1, Z2, Z4, Z5, Z11, Z22, and Z23, as well as the writings "Calculating Space" and "Der Computer – Mein Lebenswerk". Zuse passed away on December 18, 1995, in Hünfeld, Germany, leaving a substantial legacy in the field of computer technologies.
