Kolyu Ficheto

Nikola Fichev (1800–1881), known as Kolyu Ficheto, was a Bulgarian architect, builder, sculptor, and engineer. Born in Dryanovo, then part of the Ottoman Empire, he made significant contributions to the Bulgarian National Revival of the 19th century, including the Belen Bridge.

Biography

Nikola Fichev, often called Kolyu Ficheto, was born in 1800 in Dryanovo, then under Ottoman rule. He was a Bulgarian architect, builder, sculptor, and engineer who played an important role in the cultural and architectural development of Bulgaria during the 19th-century Bulgarian National Revival. Among his notable works is the Belen Bridge. Throughout his life, Fichev was a distinguished master, combining engineering skill with sculptural artistry. He lived a long life and passed away in 1881 in Veliko Tarnovo, one of Bulgaria's historic cities.
