Katy Stephanides
Katy Stephanides (1925, Limassol – 2012) was a Cypriot artist and arts figure associated with the modernist movement of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. She held her first solo exhibition in 1972 and participated in exhibitions until 2003.
Biography
Katy Stephanides was born in 1925 in Limassol, Cyprus. She was an artist, arts figure, and teacher. As an artist, she was a representative of the modernist movement spanning the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Stephanides began her artistic career with her first solo exhibition held in 1972. She actively participated in various exhibitions thereafter, continuing to do so until 2003. Her works are included in the collections of several significant museums in Cyprus, such as the Byzantine Museum of Archbishop Makarios III, the Loukia and Michalis Zambelas Art Museum, the Municipal Art Gallery of Limassol, and the State Gallery of Contemporary Cypriot Art. Katy Stephanides passed away on March 24, 2012.
