She was a representative of Expressionism and actively participated in the cultural life of the Weimar Republic and the German Empire. Kollwitz worked primarily in the genres of portraiture and figurative art. Her artistic practice was diverse, encompassing roles as a printmaker, draftsman, lithographer, poster artist, illustrator, sculptor, designer, architectural draftsman, etcher, and bookplate artist. Additionally, she was a professor and an active figure in the arts community. Among her well-known works are "Woman with Dead Child" and "Mother with her dead son." Käthe Kollwitz passed away on April 22, 1945, in Moritzburg.
