Ju Ming
Ju Ming (born 1938) was a Taiwanese sculptor known for his wood carving training and development across various materials. He gained recognition in Taiwan in the 1970s and internationally in New York in 1983. Ju Ming passed away in Taipei in 2023.
Biography
Ju Ming was born in 1938 in Miaoli, Taiwan. He received formal training in wood carving during his adolescence as an apprentice under Lee Chin-chuan. Throughout the 1970s, Ju Ming became recognized as a sculptor within Taiwan and later gained international attention in New York in 1983. His works incorporated a variety of materials including bronze, foam, ceramics, and stainless steel, reflecting his diverse skills and creative versatility. Among his notable works is "Gate of Wisdom." Ju Ming lived and worked in the Republic of China (Taiwan). He died on April 22, 2023, in Taipei.
