Biography
Jozef Cíger-Hronský was born on February 23, 1896, in the town of Zvolen, Slovakia. He was a Slovak writer, playwright, educator, and publicist. Cíger-Hronský held the position of secretary and was one of the leaders of the cultural and educational organization Matica slovenská, which played a key role in the development of Slovak culture. His creative work was primarily in the prose genre. In addition to his literary activities, Jozef Cíger-Hronský also worked as a children's writer, artist, and editor, reflecting the versatility of his talent and a broad range of professional interests. He died on July 13, 1960, in the town of Luhan.
