Joy Adamson (born Friederike Victoria Gessner) was a naturalist, writer, artist, and wildlife conservationist born on January 20, 1910, in Opava. She is known for raising and releasing a lioness and a cheetah into the wild. She died on January 3, 1980, in Shaba.

She is known for raising and releasing a lioness and a cheetah back into the wild and attempted the same with a leopard. Joy Adamson passed away on January 3, 1980, in Shaba.
