José Sabogal
José Sabogal Dieges (1888–1956) was a Peruvian muralist and writer. Born in Cajabamba, he founded the Indigenism movement and was a leader of artistic autochthonism in Peru. Sabogal's work significantly influenced 20th-century Peruvian art.

Sabogal Dieges became the founder of the Indigenism movement in Peru, exerting a significant influence on the development of national art. Additionally, he was one of the leaders of the artistic autochthonism movement in his country, aiming to reflect Peru's cultural identity through his work. José Sabogal Dieges’s activities occupy an important place in the history of Peruvian art during the first half of the 20th century. He died on December 15, 1956, in Lima, leaving behind a legacy of artworks and essays that continue to be studied and appreciated.
