Johannes V. Jensen
Johannes Vilhelm Jensen (1873–1950) was a Danish writer and poet awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. He authored works such as "Digte", "Gudrun", and "The Fall of the King". Jensen also engaged in journalism, translation, sculpture, and teaching.
Biography
Johannes Vilhelm Jensen was born on January 20, 1873, in the town of Farsø, which was part of the Kingdom of Denmark. He emerged as a distinguished Danish writer and poet whose creative work spanned various literary genres. In recognition of his prolific career, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. Jensen is known as the author of works including "Digte", "Gudrun", "The Fall of the King", "Stories from Himmerland", and "The Long Journey". Beyond his writing career, he also worked as a journalist, columnist, essayist, translator, correspondent, sculptor, lecturer, and wood engraver. Johannes Vilhelm Jensen passed away on November 25, 1950, in Copenhagen.
