Jim Amaral is an American-Colombian artist and draftsman, born on March 3, 1933, in Pleasanton, USA. Over a career of more than fifty years, he has worked in painting, graphic arts, bronze sculpture, printmaking, collage, furniture design, assemblages, and artist books. His work is characterized by high precision and refined technique. Although his pieces are not tied to any specific style or movement, they are associated with surrealism and ancient Greek sculpture. Jim Amaral explained that his work is driven by a desire to understand and experience the world through painting, seeking answers to the mysteries of life and death, and reflecting human solitude. According to him, he creates artworks intended for the viewer's contemplation, aiming for the pieces to evoke not only a visual impression but also a profound emotional response.
