Biography

Jean Philippe Arthur Dubuffet was born on July 31, 1901, in Le Havre, France. He became a notable French artist and sculptor, creating significant works of art. Throughout his life, Dubuffet worked within the genre of abstraction and was connected to the artistic movements of Art Brut and Informalism. His activities encompassed various areas of art: he was an engraver, designer, art theorist, graphic artist, architectural draftsman, writer, draughtsman, philosopher, and illustrator. His work gained recognition within the cultural circles of France. Jean Dubuffet passed away on May 12, 1985, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Among his well-known works are "Le Bel costumé," "Tour aux figures," "Monument with Standing Beast," and "Jardin d'émail." Dubuffet left a significant mark on the history of modern art, combining a theoretical approach with practical realization across diverse forms of visual art.
