Jean Charlot
Jean Charlot (1898–1979) was a French-Mexican muralist, draftsman, engraver, lithographer, and prose writer. Born in Paris, he worked in the USA and France. He was also a university teacher, illustrator, and historian.
Biography
Jean Charlot, full name Louis Henri Jean Charlot, was born on February 8, 1898, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. He was a French-Mexican artist known as a muralist, draftsman, engraver, lithographer, as well as a prose writer and historian. Charlot was a notable figure in visual arts, combining his creative work with university teaching. Throughout his career, he engaged in various artistic directions, working as an illustrator and graphic artist. A significant part of his life and activities was connected with France and the United States, where he not only created artworks but also developed academic work. Jean Charlot passed away on March 20, 1979, in Honolulu.
