Biography

Jacobo Borges was born on November 28, 1931, in Caracas, Venezuela. He is a contemporary neo-figurative artist whose work spans painting, graphic art, and filmmaking. Borges's curiosity led him to master various artistic forms: he has worked as a painter, printmaker, filmmaker, and plastic artist. The core principle of his artistry is the exploration of a space between dream and reality—a realm where everything has happened, is happening, and could happen. His unique theoretical approach and innovative techniques have earned him recognition in numerous countries, including France, Germany, Austria, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His oeuvre includes a large body of paintings, a 1969 film, and the book "The Great Mountain and Its Era," published in 1979. The artist's biography was published in 1982 in both English and Spanish by Dora Ashton.
