Jacob Lawrence
Jacob Lawrence (1917–2000) was an American artist, illustrator, and draftsman known for his dynamic cubism style and social realism themes focused on the human figure and narrative painting.

Biography
Jacob Lawrence was born on September 7, 1917, in Atlantic City, USA. He became one of the most prominent African American artists of the twentieth century, defining his style as "dynamic cubism." Throughout his creative career, Lawrence worked in the genres of figure painting, narrative art, and genre painting. His work is attributed to the social realism movement. Besides his main work as a painter, he was also a draftsman, illustrator, and printmaker. Among his notable works are "Builders No. 1" and "New York in Transit." Throughout his life, he remained an active participant in the American art scene. Jacob Lawrence passed away on June 9, 2000, in Seattle.
