Ivan Vasilievich Popov (1874–1945) was a Russian and Soviet painter, considered the founder of professional visual arts in Yakutia, as well as a local historian and ethnographer. He was born in Ytyk-Kyuyol and worked actively until his death in the Yakut ASSR.

Ivan Vasilievich Popov was born on May 7, 1874, in the settlement of Ytyk-Kyuyol. He was a Russian and Soviet artist who made a significant contribution to the development of visual arts in Yakutia, becoming the founder of professional visual arts in the region. In addition to painting, Popov engaged in local history and ethnography, reflecting his profound attention to the culture and history of his native land. His entire artistic career took place within the Soviet Union. Ivan Vasilievich Popov passed away in 1945 in the territory of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. His legacy is of interest for the study of Soviet art and the regional cultural traditions of Yakutia.
