Inji Aflatoun

Biography

Inji Aflatoun was born on April 16, 1924, in Shubra, Egypt. She became known as an artist and activist who dedicated her life to the fight for women's rights and the development of modern art. In the late 1940s and 1950s, Aflatoun was a leading figure in Egypt's Marxist-progressive-nationalist-feminist movement. She actively participated in the women's movement and had a significant impact on the country's cultural and social life. Her artistic style was Surrealism, which is reflected in her work. Inji Aflatoun was one of the most important Egyptian artists of her time. She died on April 17, 1989, in Cairo.
