Illarion Golitsyn
Illarion Vladimirovich Golitsyn (1928–2007) was a Soviet and Russian painter, landscape artist, illustrator, graphic artist, and sculptor. He was named People's Artist of the Russian Federation in 1998 and became a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts in 1997. He received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 2003.
Biography
Illarion Vladimirovich Golitsyn was born on May 20, 1928, in Moscow. He was a Soviet and Russian painter, graphic artist, landscape painter, sculptor, engraver, and illustrator. Golitsyn was also active as an art figure and author of articles on art. In 1997, he became a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and in 1998, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation. For his significant contribution to literature and art, he was honored with the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 2003. Illarion Vladimirovich lived all his life in Moscow, where he passed away on March 14, 2007.
