Biography

Hermann Karl Hesse was born on July 2, 1877, in the town of Calw. He was a German-Swiss writer, poet, and artist who worked in the modernist style. Throughout different periods of his life, he was connected with the German Empire, Switzerland, Germany, and the Russian Empire. Beyond his literary activity, Hesse was also a philosopher, novelist, literary figure, artist, illustrator, librettist, pacifist, bookseller, and even a resistance fighter. His creative legacy includes significant works such as "The Glass Bead Game," "Demian," "Steppenwolf," "Siddhartha," "Peter Camenzind," and "Narcissus and Goldmund."
