Herbert Bayer
Herbert Bayer (1900–1985) was an Austrian and American artist, designer, and member of the Bauhaus movement. He worked across graphic design, photography, sculpture, architecture, calligraphy, typography, and monumental art.
Biography
Herbert Bayer was born on April 5, 1900, in Hag am Hausruck, Austria. Over his career, he gained recognition as an Austrian graphic designer, artist, photographer, and sculptor, as well as a figure prominent within the Bauhaus art movement. In addition to these disciplines, Bayer also engaged in architecture, calligraphy, typography, and monumental art. Besides his Austrian roots, he had cultural ties to the United States, where he continued his creative work. Among his notable projects is the Double Ascension design. Herbert Bayer passed away on September 30, 1985, in Montecito, leaving a significant legacy in the development of modern design and art.
