Hend al-Mansour is a Saudi-American artist and physician born in 1956 in Al-Hufuf. After a 20-year medical career specializing in cardiology and internal medicine, she emigrated to the USA in 1997 and pursued visual arts, earning an MFA.

Biography

Hend al-Mansour was born in 1956 in Al-Hufuf, Saudi Arabia. She completed medical education with a specialization in cardiology and internal medicine and practiced medicine for about 20 years. In 1997, Hend emigrated to the United States, moving there after receiving a scholarship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Following this, she began working in visual arts by attending the Women’s Art Institute at St. Catherine University and earning a Master of Fine Arts degree at the College of Art and Design in Minneapolis. There she studied under Aribert Munzner. In her works, which include printed silkscreens, large-scale installations, and portraits of Muslim women, Hend al-Mansour explores the religious and social belief systems of Arab communities.
