As a representative of postmodernism, he made a significant contribution to contemporary architecture and design. Among his most notable works are the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt am Main, the Abteiberg Museum, Museum Niederösterreich, and Haas-Haus. Throughout his career, he also worked as a professor and jewelry designer. Hollein passed away on April 24, 2014, in Vienna. His professional activity remained closely connected with Austria and its culture throughout his life.
