Her early works addressed issues related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling for its resolution. Hajjar is one of the few women working at Arab News and the only female political cartoonist in Saudi Arabia. Her cartoons cover a wide range of topics, including criticism of political figures and social practices such as gender inequality, politics, and economics. She has noted that her works reflect public discontent, yet she remains cautious in order to maintain her career and the ability to publish her cartoons.
