Günter Grass
Günter Wilhelm Grass (1927–2015) was a German writer, sculptor, painter, and graphic artist. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1999 and is known for major works including The Tin Drum.
Biography
Günter Wilhelm Grass was born on October 16, 1927, in the Free City of Danzig (now Gdańsk). He was a German writer, sculptor, painter, and graphic artist. Throughout his life, Grass also distinguished himself as a poet, playwright, essayist, screenwriter, autobiographer, illustrator, printmaker, photographer, and librettist. His cultural affiliation is connected both to the Free City of Danzig and Germany. Among the author's significant works are The Tin Drum, Cat and Mouse, Dog Years, The Flounder, What Must Be Said, The Rat, and Last Dances. In 1999, Günter Grass was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He passed away on April 13, 2015, in the city of Lübeck.
