Grigory Semyonovich Sedov was born on January 12, 1836, in Moscow. He was a Russian artist specializing in historical painting during the period of the great reforms. His entire creative activity was connected with Moscow, where he lived and worked. Sedov was granted the title of academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts, attesting to the recognition of his contribution to the development of Russian art. The main genre of his work was painting. The artist was part of the cultural milieu of the Russian Empire. Grigory Semyonovich died in Moscow on April 15, 1884.
