Gracia Barrios
Gracia Barrios (1926–2020) was a Chilean painter associated with realism, figurativism, abstractionism, expressionism, and contemporary art. She was awarded the National Prize for Visual Arts in 2011.
Biography
Gracia Barrios Rivadeneira was born on June 27, 1926, in Santiago, Chile. Throughout her artistic career, she represented several styles, including realism, figurativism, abstractionism, expressionism, and contemporary art. Barrios was known as a painter, arts figure, and university educator. In 2011, she received the National Prize for Visual Arts, one of the significant awards in Chilean visual arts. Gracia Barrios passed away on May 28, 2020, in Ñuñoa. Her work holds an important place in the cultural history of 20th-century Chile.
