Gerhard Richter was born on February 9, 1932, in Dresden, Germany. He is a German artist and visual arts figure renowned for his works across various genres including abstraction, installation art, portraiture, animal painting, landscape, genre painting, marine art, still life, and urban landscape. In addition to painting, Richter is recognized as an illustrator, photographer, and university lecturer. Throughout his career, he has been associated with the Capitalist Realism movement. Among his notable works are "48 Portraits", "Candle (Kerze)", and the "Gerhard Richter Stained Glass." In 2007, he was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Cologne. His artistic activities are connected to the cultural traditions of Germany.
