George Maciunas
George Maciunas, born Jurgis Maciunas on November 8, 1931, in Kaunas, was an American artist, composer, architect, sculptor, and art dealer of Lithuanian origin. He was a founder and theorist of the Fluxus movement. He died on May 9, 1978.

George Maciunas, originally Jurgis Maciunas, was born on November 8, 1931, in the city of Kaunas. He was an American artist, composer, and theorist, as well as one of the founders of the Fluxus art movement. Maciunas worked in various fields of art, including architecture, sculpture, and graphic design, and he also acted as an art dealer and performance artist. His contribution to the development of avant-garde art is evident in the creation of the famous piece "Solo for Violin" in 1962. Maciunas combined different genres and techniques in his work, making him a key figure in the international Fluxus art movement. He passed away on May 9, 1978, in Boston. Maciunas' nationality reflects his Lithuanian and American cultural and biographical roots.
