Ganzeer

Biography

Ganzeer is the pseudonym of an Egyptian artist born in 1982. His works gained significant resonance in Egypt and beyond after the 2011 revolution. Prior to that, although recognized, his art had a limited reach primarily within the fields of art and design. Ganzeer's creative output addresses important social topics, including civic responsibility and social justice. The name Ganzeer translates from Arabic as “chain.” He regularly contributes to the online magazine Rolling Bulb. Often described as an “artist of unpredictability,” Ganzeer actively explores new styles, techniques, and media, adapting to current themes. He is listed among prominent global street artists and influential cultural figures of the Middle East. Additionally, Ganzeer is featured as one of the main subjects in the documentary film Art War by German director Marco Wilms. The German television channel Arte also recognizes him as one of the best-selling living artists in Egypt.
