Gabriel Flores
Gabriel Flores (1930–1993) was a Mexican artist and muralist from Guadalajara. From 1956 to 1993, he created murals on historical and universal themes, often addressing social issues. In the 1960s, he produced his principal work, the mural "Los Niños Héroes."
Biography
Gabriel Flores was born on February 8, 1930, in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was a Mexican artist and muralist active from 1956 to 1993. During this period, Flores created murals that reflected both historical and universal themes, emphasizing the social role of art. In the 1960s, at the height of his career, he produced his principal work, the mural "Los Niños Héroes," dedicated to the heroic deeds of six young soldiers during the Mexican-American War. Gabriel Flores summarized his artistic philosophy with the words: "I do not want much; I have what I love, above all my freedom." He lived his entire life in Guadalajara, where he passed away on December 14, 1993.
